Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police arrested four persons including the managing director of Dillip Constructions Private Limited, Dillip Kumar Khatei, and assistant manager of Airport Authority of India, Ashis Sarakar, for negligence resulting in the collapse of the link building roof at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) late Friday night.
The other two arrested persons were Abhilash Sarakar and Gautam Ray (AAI), both engineers.
An expert team, including officials from the state works department, has been requisitioned to look into reasons resulting to the incident. “Technical investigation will be done. The competent authority will decide on a committee from our headquarters,” BPIA Director VV Rao said.
Meanwhile, Khatei claimed that all safety measures were in place during the work Friday. He pointed out that the roof collapsed “due to heavy load.”
Saturday, DCP (Bhubaneswar) Anup Kumar Sahoo said, “Commissionerate Police has initiated a legal action in this matter and requested responsible departments to provide us with requisite documents.”
