Sambalpur: Sambalpur Police Sunday said that Section 144 of CrPC had been imposed at several places of Sambalpur district as a preventive measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the areas.
The district administration has declared several areas under Khetrajpur Police Station and Burla Police station, Rengali Police Station, Katarbaga Police Station, Thelkoloi Police Station, Dhama Police Station, Rairakhol Police Station, Nakdeuil Police Station, Kisnda Police Station, Kuchinda Police Station and Jamankira police station as containment zones amid the ongoing pandemic.

According to Sambalpur SP Anwar Vishal Singh, the prohibitory order debar any kind of non-essential movement on roads from August 9 to August 13. However, containment zone tag will be enforced on the above areas till further orders.
“There is an urgent need to avoid danger to human life, health or safety posed by the spread of COVID-19 pandemic,” an order issued by Sub-Divisional Magistrate read.
Sources said that several people from the areas including Bhabani field area of Dhanupalli, Bank Colony and back side of ISKCON temple in Sakhipada area, N Guha Lane, Malipada of Bada Bazar area, WESCO Colony of Kalibadi area, Sarala area of Dhankouda, Saimadir area in Gopalmal, Nayapada area in Goal have tested positive for COVID-19.
For this the district administration has imposed Sec-144 CrPC in order to contain the further spread of the virus.
During the prohibitory period the district administration will detect the health condition of the people residing in these areas through door-to-door health screenings.
