Rourkela: Manoj Kumar Nayak, Officer-in-charge of Kuarmunda police outpost, in Rourkela died after his car rammed into a road divider near Bisra Chhak Wednesday night.
According to reports, the mishap took place at 1 am when Nayak was returning to his residence at Sector-19.
Reportedly, he lost control over the wheels near Bisra Chhak following which the vehicle rammed into a road divider.
He sustained critical injuries and got stuck inside the car as the vehicle was mangled under the impact of the collision.
On receipt of information, police reached the spot and rushed Nayak to Ispat General Hospital (IGH), where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
Nayak had earned accolades for his service in the department and also won the ‘Best Sub-inspector’ award.
