Cops busy in cricket match; looters have field day in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: While the Commissionerate police are reportedly busy in a cricket match with staffs of a particular media house in Kalinga Stadium, looters are having a field day in the Capital city, reports said.

As per sources, series of loots have been reported Baramunda bust-stand, Ravi Talkies area under Lingaraj police limits, Kharvelnagar and Nayapalli area. Even as complaints have been lodged in all the cases, the police are yet to trace the miscreants.

In the first instance, a businessman identified as Krushnachandra Sahoo from Begunia area, was travelling to Cuttack to buy grocery things for his shop. He got down at Baramunda bus-stand after reaching Bhubaneswar and was about to take a bus to Cuttack when two bike-borne miscreants, believed to be following Sahoo snatched away the bag containing the money and fled from the spot.

Hearing Sahoo’s scream for help, other passengers tried to intercept the looters, but in vain who sped away in no time with the bag.

Based on a complaint by Sahoo, Khandagiri police registered a case and launched a probe.

Similarly, Bijay Kumar Behera owns a magazine store in Ravi Talkies. Unidentified miscreants broke into his shop and looted Rs 15,000 in cash along with other things from the shop, Behera said.

Moreover, a youth identified as Rabindra was looted of Rs 7,000 at knife-point while he was standing near Mali Sahi under Kharvelnagar police limits.

A woman was snatched off her chain near CRPF square under Nayapalli police limits while she was walking to her home.
