Bhubaneswar: Two policemen and two employees of an electronic media platform who gangraped a minor during lockdown have been identified and will be arrested soon, Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash said Sunday.
Dash also informed that the police officers of three police stations have intensified their raids on all possible places to nab the accused.
According to a source, the victim is a resident of a place under Infocity police limits. She studies in an English medium school. The accused four allegedly entered her house for the first time while she was alone and took turns on her at gunpoint. Besides, they had allegedly threatened the victim against revealing about the incident before anybody.
Later, the accused men repeated the crime multiple times by coercing the minor following which the victim revealed about the incident to her parents.
The matter came to fore August 30 when the victim lodged an FIR against the accused men. Police are conducting a detailed probe into the incident, Dash informed.
Initially, after registering a case (Case No-44/20) under POCSO Act, the Mahila police station was investigating the case. Later, the case was handed over to the Investigative Unit for Crime Against Women (IUCAW), an integrated unit to probe heinous crimes such as rape, acid attack among others against women and children.
