Coronavirus: 3,144 new cases take Odisha’s caseload to 2,44,139; 974 dead

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 3,144 new cases of coronavirus infections in the state in the last 24 hours. The information was given by the I&PR Department, Government of Odisha in a tweet Thursday.

Out of the new positive coronavirus cases, 1,825 persons were in quarantine while the remaining contracted the disease by coming in contact with infected persons.

Even though the last two days witnessed less than 3,000 infections in the state,  the caseload has again surpassed the 3000 mark Thursday.

The death toll in Odisha rose to 974 with 16 new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours. Most of these COVID-19 patients were suffering from diabetes, hypertension and other complications.

District wise breakdown: Angul 128, Balasore 72, Bargarh 94, Bhadrak 101, Bolangir 86, Boudh 1, Cuttack 243, Deogarh 24, Dhenkanal 73, Gajapati 9, Ganjam 38, Jagatsinghpur 77, Jajpur 101, Jharsuguda 83, Kalahandi 124, Kandhamal 116, Kendrapada 82, Keonjhar 63, Khurda 562, Koraput 37, Malkangiri 28, Mayurbhanj 115, Nabarangpur 107, Nayagarh 58, Nuapada 114, Puri 122, Rayagada 29, Sambalpur 136, Sonepur 86 and Sundargarh 105. According to the department the state poll stands at 130.

The current number of active cases in Odisha stands at 29,443. So far 244139 persons have tested positive for the disease in the state.

With the recovery of 3455 patients Wednesday, the total recovered cases reached 2,13,672. A total of 3619509 cumulative tests were conducted by the Heath Department of Odisha.
