Bhandaripokhari: A dramatic change has come in the life of 52-year-old Pravakar Sahu – a renowned stage comedian who sells paan these days to eke out a living amid the COVID-19 outbreak in Bhadrak.
Pravakar no longer needs facial makeup and does not make others laugh. He depends on his betel shop newly opened at Palada besides national highway (NH-16).

The stage comedian belongs to Dakhinabada village under Bhandaripokhari block in the district.
Pravakar had joined a theatre group in 1975 as the fiscal standing of his family was not stable then. Initially, he acted as a child artiste and later played musical instruments and subsequently opted for comedy.
“I earn Rs 100 to Rs 150 in a day and it is very difficult to manage household expenses with this. After things subside in future, I will go back to the theatre once again,” the comedian expressed.
