Boipariguda: Two rival political parties have created a piquant situation at Banuaguda village by taking credit for construction of a beneficiary house in Koraput district ahead of the general elections.
Pita Minari Balia had got the house built under Awas Yojana at a cost of Rs 1.30 lakh.
A part of the front wall of the house spots a wall painting mentioning Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The wall painting on the other side of his door has the logo of the state government and a picture of Biju Patnaik, mentioning ‘Aama Ghara’.
Similar painting was noticed on the wall of Purba Badanayak’s house. The painting has mention of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana on one side and Biju Pucca Ghar yojana with the picture of Biju Patnaik on the other side. The wall painting shows that the house was built at a cost of Rs 1.30 lakh in 2017-18.
Villagers are in confusion. They are not able to identify whether the houses are constructed under central government’s yojana or the state government’s.
When asked, locals said they were illiterate and could not read what government officials had written on the walls.
On the other hand, there are houses in the Chandrapada panchayat in the block that shows confusing public advertisement.
However, some alleged the parties are doing this to gain political mileage and some others observe that money might have been misappropriated to get the houses constructed.
