Angul: A young couple allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a running train near Kumunda on Sambalpur-Angul route here Saturday morning.
The incident came to the fore after the mutilated bodies of the two, believed to be lovebirds, were spotted scattered on the railway tracks near Kumanda area in this district.
Prima facie, it appears to be case of suicide, suggested locals. The couple is suspected to have ended their lives by jumping before the train.
One of the deceased was identified as Bibhuti Sahoo, a mason by profession and resident of Banharpal area. However, the identity of the woman is yet to be known.
A motorcycle was also recovered on a nearby bridge connecting Angul with Jindal near the suicide point. Sources said that the couple might have jumped before the train after alighting from the bridge.
Local cops have reached the spot and have initiated a probe into the incident.
