Ghasipura: Police recovered Friday the body of a couple in a farmland in Anlapala village under Ghasipura police limit in Keonjhar district, Friday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Bijay Murmu (42) and his wife Pana Murmu (40).
According to police officials, the couple had gone missing since Thursday evening. His family members started searching for them frantically after they failed to return home late into the night. Some local residents first spotted the body lying in the farmland before alerting the deceased’s family and local police.
On being informed, Ghasipura police reached the spot and recovered the bodies.
Meanwhile, villagers alleged that the duo had been struck by a thunderbolt.
Police have started an investigation and are looking into various angles. The police also sent the body for post-mortem to Anandpur sub-divisional hospital. The actual reason will be ascertained after closely examining the post-mortem report.
