Kandhamal: Police recovered Tuesday the bodies of a man and a woman hanging from a tree with a sari from Marsapadar jungle under Phiringia police limits in Kandhamal district. The deceased are residents of the same locality, people said. Some villagers first spotted the bodies hanging from a tree. They immediately informed the police.
Later, a team from Phiringia police station reached the spot, brought down the bodies and then sent them for post-mortem. However, no suicide note was found, it was learnt.
Though the exact reason behind the alleged suicide is yet to be ascertained, the police have launched a probe into it.
Some locals said that the two were in love. However, their respective families were averse to their relationship and did not want them to get married. That is the main reason why the couple took such an extreme step, said some villagers.
The incident has sent shock sent waves through the village leaving most of the people stunned.
