Court allows STF to send Tito’s weapons to SFSL

Kendrapara: The STF led by DSP Ramachandra Thamba Saturday visited Kendrapara and collected sanction order under Section 39 of the Arms Act from the District Magistrate for prosecution of Tito alias Sayed Ushman Ali for possessing revolvers illegally.

The STF had seized two revolvers and five cartridges, including four live ones, June 30 from Tito.

Later, the investigating officer of STF case No: 6, Ramchandra Thamba, requested the SDJM court to grant permission for sending the seized firearms to the State Forensic Science Lab (SFSL) at Bhubaneswar for ballistic examination. The court allowed sending them to SFSL. Monday, the revolvers and cartridges will be handed over to SFSL.

Meanwhile, the STF is going to submit the chargesheet of Tito in STF case No: 6 August 28, official sources said.

The SDJM court allowed the JMFC court (Rural), Cuttack, to take Tito on seven days judicial remand. The JMFC court (Rural), Cuttack had filed a petition in the SDJM court of Kendrapara praying to hand over Tito who was in Kendrapara sub-jail under the custody of SDJM Kendrapara in STF cases,  as a case bearing Kishannagar police station case No: 79 dated July 6, 2017  was pending against Tito. After this Kishannagar police requested the JMFC court (Rural), Cuttack to take Tito on remand.

It may be noted that Biswajit Mohanty of Alekh Construction lodged an FIR at the Kishannagar police station July 6 alleging that a millar machine used for bitumen laying was set afire by four motorbike–borne miscreants who threw two bombs at the machine and damaged it.

The attackers also threatened labourers at the site to stop work and leave immediately. Later, a telephone call, from the phone number 7381046641, came to him on his uncle’s mobile phone to deposit Rs 50,000 in a bank account.

Kishannagar police later conducted an inquiry and found Tito’s involvement in this crime. Within a day or two the JMFC court would take Tito into judicial custody and would hand him over on remand to Kishannagar police in case No: 79/2017, police sources said.
