Choudwar: Panic gripped Choudwar Municipality area of Cuttack district after a person, who died Thursday morning, tested positive for COVID-19 Saturday.
Sources said, a person of Kumbhara Sahi (Ward No. 2) under Choudwar Municipality was working in a mine in Sukinda of Jajpur district. As he was not feeling well, he had returned back to his home Wednesday.
Following the advice of doctor he had submitted his swab samples at Cuttack SCB Medical for COVID-19 test, Thursday morning.

However, his health condition deteriorated further Thursday evening following which he visited a nearby medicine store. There the store owner administered him with an injection.
Some moments later, he died at his home. On being informed, the neighbours and relatives reached at the deceased’s home and helped the bereaved family in performing the last rites of the person.
Meanwhile, the health department informed the family members of the deceased about his COVID-19 positive report Saturday.
The news has brought tension and anxiety to the family members and relatives who had helped the family members to perform the last rites of the deceased.
On being informed officials of Choudwar Municipality reached at the deceased’s home and started the sanitation drive.
The persons who had come in contact with the deceased have been asked to home quarantine themselves. Their swab samples will be collected during their home quarantine period, said officials.
