Chhatrapur: The increasing number of positive cases in Ganjam district was once linked to more number of tests. But the district has been reporting fewer number of single-day cases despite more number of tests, informed the district’s COVID-19 cell.
Informing journalists through graphs, facts and figures, the cell Sunday said that last week the district reported less number of positive cases in comparison to the number of tests.
The cell also handed out another set of graphs mentioning the figures of infected and cured patients during every week of June and July and those during the first and second week of August.
The graphs show that there was a decline in positive cases in the third and fourth weeks of July and first and second weeks of August despite more number of tests being carried out during the same periods.
Till Sunday, the district reported 12, 855 infected cases and the total recovery cases stood at 10, 171. While 2,553 patients were undergoing treatment, as many 131 patients succumbed to the virus.
District collector Vijay Amruta Kulange informed through a tweet that with the launching of a mega health screening Saturday, a team of doctors is conducting door to door checks in Berhampur Municipal Corporation, Hinjili municipality and other 16 NACs.
Each and every member of families has been subjected to thermal screening and pulse reading through oxymetre.
Collector Kulange further informed that the OAS and ORS officers the state government sent to the district have been appointed as officers on special duty (OSD). Each of the officers has been entrusted with the responsibility of either a block or an NAC.
These officers are monitoring the situation not only by visiting ground zeros but also interacting with the positive cases. They are also taking part in awareness programmes. Emphasis has been laid out on how swab samples can be collected from symptomatic patients.
With panchayat level swab collection underway, Kulange urged people to come forward if they have any symptoms.
