Bhadrak: Even as daily cases of Covid-19 in Bhadrak district are showing a downward trend, the number of children infected by the virus is on the rise. As per the information shared by the district Health department, a total of 136 persons tested positive in the last 10 days starting August 17.
However, the matter of concern for the administration is that 22 children have tested positive for the virus in the same period. Among them 12 are girls and the rest 10 are boys. Healthcare officials are trying to build awareness among parents to prevent the rise of Covid-19 cases among the children.
Experts have already pointed out that the third wave of Covid-19 is expected to peak in October and children will be the worst affected due to it. Already a number of kids in various districts of Odisha have succumbed to the virus.
The district reported Monday nine fresh cases and two deaths, taking the tally and toll to 26,005 and 135 respectively. A total of 25,767 patients have so far recovered from the disease while the district’s active case stands at 99.
