Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) and the State Botanical Garden located in the vicinity of the state capital will remain out of bounds for the public from May 1 till May 15 in view of rising cases of COVID-19 in the City, authorities informed Friday.
“Nandankanan Zoo and State Botanical Garden is closed for visitors with effect from May 1, 2021 till May 15, 2021 as a precautionary measure against spread of COVID-19,” an official notification issued by the deputy director of NZP said.

Notably, the Nandankanan Zoological Park is a 437-hectare (1,080 acre) zoo and botanical garden in Odisha. It was established in 1960 and opened for public viewing in the year 1979. It became the first Indian zoo to feature in the list of World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) in 2009.
