Bhubaneswar: With states like Maharashtra, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Punjab registering fresh COVID-19 cases, the Odisha government has issued guidelines for schools across the state.
School & Mass Education Additional Secretary Pratap Kumar Mishra, in a letter to all the District Education Officers, has instructed schools, higher secondary schools and other educational institutions to ensure implementation of COVID-19 safety guidelines/protocols, besides maintaining adequate and strict sanitation measures.
As per the guidelines, the teachers and concerned authorities shall ensure strict enforcement of COVID-19 protocols such as mask wearing, maintaining physical distance, use of thermal screening and use of sanitizer by students and staff.
The educational institutions have been asked not to allow any activities other than curricular ones in their institution premises.
The persons violating COVID-19 guidelines may be penalised under the relevant provisions of law, the order stated.
Notably, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Sunday directed all the district collectors, Superintendents of Police and municipal commissioners to ensure strict implementation of COVID-19 safety guidelines in all public places including workplaces to avoid any chance of resurgence of the virus in the state.
