Bhubaneswar: SRC Pradeep Jena will address a press conference 3:30pm Saturday. With the third phase of partial lockdown ending 6:00am August 1 in the state, next phase of unlock guidelines are expected to be announced for the month of August.
Since the pandemic is not yet under control in some of the districts including Khurda and Cuttack, it is being said that the existing restrictions may continue. At the same time, several quarters have hoped that there will be some relaxations.
Keeping the rising cases of Covid-19 in some parts of the state in mind, the government had July 15 extended the partial unlock till 6:00 am August 1 for the third time since June 16 when the first partial unlock was announced.
Notably, the lockdown in the second wave of the pandemic was announced May 15. In order to stop the spread of virus, the lockdown was imposed in three phases. The state is now in the third phase of partial unlock.
It may be mentioned here that Odisha Saturday registered 1,578 new Covid-19 daily cases and 68 fatalities, taking the tally and toll in the state to 9,77,268 and 5,902 respectively.
