Choudwar: A COVID-19 positive warder in Choudwar jail of Cuttack district has spread the infection to eight prisoners. This information was given by prison officials Thursday evening. Out of the eight, three are under-trial prisoners.
Sources said, the warder tested positive for COVID-19 Monday. They added that the warder contracted the disease while on duty at the Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre (AHRCC). A prisoner was undergoing treatment at the hospital. There were three others who were also doing duty at the same hospital. However, their reports have come out as negative.
After the warder tested positive, the Superintendent of Choudwar Circle Jail with the help of Cuttack DHH CDMO Subhakanta Mishra conducted COVID-19 tests of all those who had come in contact with the warder. Then eight persons tested positive for the deadly virus.
