Bhubaneswar: The state government Tuesday fixed modalities for distribution of monthly financial assistance to be paid to the family member of Covid warriors in case of death in the line of duty.
Finance department Tuesday issued notifications for distribution of Covid warrior family assistance for government employees, ASHA and Angnwadi workers, who die while discharging Covid-19 duty.
In case of death of an ASHA worker in line of duty under active deployment by the state authorities, Covid-19 family assistance of Rs 5000 per month will be provided to the spouse or eligible family member till he/ she reaches 60 years had he/she survived. The monthly assistance in case of an Anganwadi worker is Rs 7,500 while family member of a government employee will receive the monthly salary being paid to the official during the time of death.
The monthly pension will be given in addition to the exgratia of Rs 50 lakh announced earlier.
The concerned district collector or SP, municipal commissioners or commissioner of police, authorised officers of Health and Family Welfare department or Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) will certify the deployment.
District-level medical officer of Health and Family Welfare department will have to certify the cause of death of the employee in active line of duty to be Covid-19 infection.
The assistance will be sanctioned after satisfying certain conditions including proof on the engagement of the ASHA/anganwadi worker or government employee for Covid-19 related duties/responsibilities.
The employee should die due to Covid-19 infection. The infection should have occurred while in active line of duty and the concerned official should not be on leave from the duty, as per the order.
