Puri: In a protest against use of sugar in religious institutions as it allegedly contains strains of cow bone, activists of the ShreeJagannath Sena Thursday burned sugar at the Singhadwar of the Jagannath temple here.
Demanding that sugar be withdrawn from use by religious institutions like the Jagannath temple here, the Sena led by its convener Priyadarshan Patnaik staged a demonstration holding placards that cautioned temples against use of sugar.
“If sugar is not exempted from use in the Jagannath temple here and other religious institutions in the coming days, the Sena would, in order to save ‘dharma’, resort to protests and seek court intervention,” warned Patnaik.
