Kendrapara: A crocodile killed a 10-year-old boy in Brahmani river near Nimpur village under Pattamundai block in Odisha’s Kendrapara district Wednesday, a source said.

The deceased was identified as Ashutosh Acharya who was a student of Class-V.

According to the source, the boy had gone to the river with his mother to take bath.

While Ashutosh’s mother was bathing, the crocodile suddenly dragged the boy from the river bank. Upon hearing Ashutosh’s scream, his mother cried for help. People nearby rushed to the spot but could not rescue the boy, the source added.

Around one hour later his body was fished out of the river.

In another unrelated incident in 2022, a 40-year-old man was dragged by a crocodile in Kendrapara. Luckily he survived the attack and was later recovered from injuries.

Even after numerous attempts by the Forest Department to create awareness about crocodile attacks during this part of the year in the past, these tragic incidents still continue.
