Bhubaneswar: The state government has declared crops in 10456.64 hectares in 1,567 villages under 319 panchayats of 15 blocks and 15 wards of four ULBs in Bolangir and Deogarh districts as pest-affected.
Based on the reports submitted by the Collectors, the government has made the declaration and estimated that the areas have incurred a crop loss of 33 per cent and above, said an official here Monday.
While 10,302 hectares of crops in 1,520 villages in Bolangir district has been infested by pests, crops in only 154 hectares have been affected in Deogarh district.
Similarly, the government has declared additional 67,576.94 hectares of crops in Kalahandi, Nuapada and Sambalpur districts as drought hit. These farmlands come under 1,729 villages in 360 gram panchayats of 21 blocks and 45 wards of 6 ULBs in the three districts.
Earlier, the state government had declared crops in 233173.8 hectares in 66 blocks of nine districts as drought-hit.
