Bhubaneswar: Keeping the Durga puja celebrations in the Twin City and Khurda in mind, the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has informed that it will suspend its services after 2pm from October 5 to 9. The buses will be available at usual frequency between 6am and 2pm on all days.
The decision was taken owing to guidelines issued by the Commissionerate Police imposing restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles on several roads of the Twin City and Khurda after 4 pm during the five-day long festival.
“We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to the citizens. We want citizens to enjoy Durga Puja revelry at ease. The restrictions are implemented for convenience and safety of the public,” said Dipti Mahapatro, General Manager, Personnel and Administration & spokesperson, CRUT.
CRUT has seen about 40% increase in passengers in past five months. With about 75,000 riders commuting daily, Mo Buses operate in 20 routes making with about 200 buses making 1,800 trips.
