Bhubaneswar: Reviewing the status of projects taken up under AMRUT scheme, Chief Secretary AP Padhi Wednesday directed the officials of Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) department to complete the projects before the deadline.
Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) is being implemented in eight urban local bodies (ULBs)—Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Sambalpur, Rourkela, Bhadrak, Balaosre and Baripada.
Taking stock of the projects, Padhi directed the H&UD officials to expedite implementation of the projects through inter-departmental coordination at the ground level. He further asked the officials to complete the projects way ahead of the deadline and ensure quality of construction and delivery of services to the people by the scheduled time.
AMRUT director Prem Kumar Jha said the state has received national award for three consecutive years (2015-16 to 2017-18) for being one among Top-3 performers at national level. In these three years, the state has received incentives to the tune of Rs 41.66 crore from the Centre, he said.
According to sources, 191 projects have so far been sanctioned and taken up under AMRUT scheme, which includes 130 water supply projects, 13 septage projects and 48 park projects.
All these projects have been tendered out and awards were issued against 188 projects. Altogether, 57 projects have been completed so far. These projects involve investment of around Rs 1,650 crore, they said.
