Bargarh: The Odisha Government Friday suspended the civil supplies officer (CSO) of Bargarh district for negligence in duty.

The suspended CSO has been identified as Srikar Majhi.

As per the notification issued by State Food, Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department, Majhi has been suspended with immediate effect. During the period that this order shall remain in force, the headquarters of Srikar Majhi, CSO, Bargarh shall be at State Head Quarter. Majhi shall not leave the headquarters without obtaining the prior permission of the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, the notification mentioned.

“He shall be entitled to payment of subsistence allowance in accordance with Rule-90 of the Odisha Service Code,” as per the notification.

Notably, Majhi had gone on leave without informing his higher-ups even as Bargarh was burning with farmers taking to streets while protesting against the online token system for paddy procurement in the last couple of days.

Hundreds of farmers, under the leadership of Odisha Rajya Krushak Sangathan president Gourichandra Khamari, gathered at the civil supply office. They stormed the office asking staff to leave before locking the main gate.
