Anandapur: In a horrific incident, a second year Certified Teacher (C.T) training girl, stabbed by her classmate, was left battling for life after she spurned his love proposals at Fakirpur CT School in Anandapur of Keonjhar district Monday.
Reportedly, the girl was admitted to Cuttack-based SCB Medical College and Hospital in critical condition. While the victim was identified as Ram Dulari Nayak, the accused who was detained till the filing of this report was identified as Balabhadra Jena. The duo hails from Jajpur area.
The two were classmates and had become friends. Jena developed feelings for the girl when they visited their village together. However, for some reason, the girl had blocked Jena on her social media accounts and was distancing herself from him.
This infuriated Jena when he spotted her hanging out with other boys in the school. As usual, the victim had gone to school Monday. Spotting her alone, Jena tried to talk to her and reportedly proposes to her.
When she opposed his advances, he took a knife that he had brought in a pre-planned manner, and stabbed the girl. Hearing her screams, students and teachers rushed to her rescue and immediately rushed her to the nearby hospital.
According to Ramdulari’s friends, Balabhadra had made multiple attempts in the past and harassed her to accept his love proposal. However, she had always declined his offer.
“He found her alone on the school premises today and took her to an isolated spot where he assaulted her with a machete,” a teacher said, adding the accused inflicted two deep injuries on her right leg and left hand.
“She was admitted to Sub-Divisional Hospital in Anandapur and later was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack,” he added. Balabhadra, who was hiding in the school has been detained by the police for interrogation. While the exact cause behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the boy might have attacked the girl over an unrequited love affair, police said.
