Bhubaneswar: The two-day cultural event ‘Mallahar organised by Nupur at Soochana Bhawan here concluded Saturday evening.
Odissi vocalist Bijayalaxmi Routrai, Odissi artiste Mithilesh Patnaik and actress Seetal Parnaik were coffered Guru Niranjan Rout Prativa Sanman on the occasion.
The programme commenced the with an Odissi group dance preformed by the students of Nupur. The theme of the dance was based on the rain. It was followed by a solo dance performance by Monalisha Subhadarshini, who presented an Odissi dance titled Pallivi.
The next performance was a duet Odissi dance performed by Mansi Mishra and Chandrakanta Sutar. Arnapurna Mohanty presented a solo Odissi dance drama Sajoni kahi kunja re. The dance showcased Radha waiting for Lord Krishna and expressing her feelings to her friends.
The concluding performance of the evening was a group folk dance Choto Moro Gaon tie wherein the artistes presented the village life of Odisha. The dance was choreographed by Niranjan Rout.
Speaking on the occasion the organiser Niranjan Rout said the objective of organising this event is to promote Odissi dance and music and to encourage the budding talents to perform at the national and international levels.
