Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police Monday instructed the operators of Cuttack-bound buses to use the flyover from Crown Hotel instead of passing through the busy Acharya Vihar and Vani Vihar squares.
A notification in this regard has been issued by the Commissionerate Police under Section 28 of the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003 and regulation 36 of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate (Traffic and Public order) Regulations, 2008.
The buses coming from Baramunda bus stand have been asked to avail the flyover from near the Crown Hotel till the newly made bus bay at Satsang Vihar in Sahid Nagar avoiding the bustling Acharya Vihar and Vani Vihar Squares. The notification also said that if the buses were found violating the order, they will be fined with Rs 1,000.
The step was taken after due deliberations with the Bus Owners’ Association who had earlier disapproved of the matter. However, they finally agreed in view of the severe traffic congestion at Acharya Vihar and Vani Vihar.
