Cuttack cyber police nab transgender posing as Odisha Agriculture Minister for duping hospital owner

Cuttack: Cyber police in Cuttack have arrested a transgender on charges of duping the owner of a private hospital of Rs 46,500 by posing as the Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment in Odisha Ranendra Pratap Swain, a source said Thursday.

The accused was identified as Soumya Ranjan Pradhan (30) alias ‘Sulagna’ aka ‘Lucky’. Following the arrest, cops produced Pradhan before a court.

According to police, Pradhan was an expert in the art of mimicking the voices of various influential people. He deceived the owner of the private hospital by posing as Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain.

Following an FIR by the hospital owner, cops from Cyber Crime police station investigated the matter.

After questioning Pradhan, it was revealed that around 100 doctors and big hoteliers in the state had been tricked by him.

Police seized two mobile phones, two SIM cards and Rs 46,500 in a bank account from the possession of the accused.
