Cuttack records 150 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours; tally at 2,828

Cuttack: As many as 150 new COVID-19 cases were detected under Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) limits in last 24 hours, CMC said Thursday.

While 36 of them were reported from institutional quarantine centres, 47 were home quarantine cases and the remaining 67 were local contact ones.

“Active surveillance, contact tracing, and sanitization of the concerned areas are underway,” CMC said.

According to a notification issued by the civic body, as of Thursday, 2,828 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Cuttack out of which 1,727 have recovered. There are 1,087 active cases and 14 persons have succumbed to the disease.

Meanwhile, Odisha’s COVID-19 caseload touched 70,020 with the detection of 2,898 new cases, while eight more fatalities pushed its coronavirus death toll to 380. As many as 1,792 new cases were reported from quarantine centres, while 1,106 people tested positive for the infection during contact tracing.

The state Wednesday tested 53,478 samples for COVID-19, taking the total number of tests conducted so far to 11,15,947.
