Cuttack records 64 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours; tally at 1,389

Cuttack:  Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Thursday said that 64 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the city in past 24 hours.

While 24 of them were reported from containment zones, 11 were reported from institutional quarantine centres. Another 19 were home quarantine case and the remaining 10 were local contact one.

“Active surveillance, contact tracing, and sanitization of the concerned areas are underway,” CMC said.

According to a notification issued by the civic body, as of Thursday, 1,389 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Cuttack out of which 671 have recovered. There are 708 active cases and 10 persons have succumbed to the disease.

Meanwhile, Odisha’s COVID-19 tally touched 40,717 with the biggest single-day spike of 1,699 cases, even as 10 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 235. As many as 1,073 people were detected positive from quarantine centres.

The state Wednesday tested 15,086 samples, taking the total number of such clinical examinations conducted to 6,00,591.
