Cuttack: Amid rising cases of COVID-19 infection in Cuttack, especially under municipal limits, the district administration has decided to allow celebration of Durga Puja this year sans pomp and gaiety.
The decision was reached after a meeting was held between the district administration and puja committees of Cuttack city Saturday.

According to a source in the administration, four persons from each committee will be allowed to bring auspicious soil needed for construction of clay idols from nearby riverbeds and ponds.
That said, the committee members will need to go for soil collection without a procession.
It may be mentioned here that conducting Ganesh Puja at public places was disallowed by the district administration for this year. Denizens desirous of performing Ganesh Puja can do so privately at their households, Cuttack deputy commissioner of police Prateek Singh had said.
