Sonepur: An unidentified cyber fraudster has allegedly swindled over Rs 5 crore from the bank account of National Health Mission (NHM) in Subarnapur, the district Health Department sources informed Saturday.
The incident came to the fore a couple of days ago when the Accounts Manager of NHM went to State Bank of India at Sonepur branch to verify the monthly transaction.
Later, the manager found that a whopping amount to a tune of over Rs 5 crore has been swindled from the bank account of NHM. The manager informed about the incident to SBI branch head. It was subsequently ascertained that the amount has been transferred to another account held by somebody else, an official said.

Acting on an FIR lodged by the department, the State Crime Branch has initiated a probe into the incident.
“We came to know about the incident after getting a reconciliation statement from the bank. We have no clue about the transfer of the hefty amount. We have discussed the matter at our level and lodged a complaint in the Crime Branch. Hopefully, the culprit will be nabbed soon,” the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Subarnapur Dillip Kumar Panda expressed.
