Bhubaneswar: As the cyclone nears the state, the evaluation process of Plus-II answer sheets has been put on hold for the time being by Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE).
The process will be suspended in districts likely to be affected by Cyclone Fani. However, evaluation will continue as usual in other districts. Further decision in this regard will be taken May 4 (Saturday) after reviewing the situation of the cyclone’s aftermath, informed Deputy Exam Controller Prasant Das.
The cyclonic storm over Bay of Bengal moved at speed of 16 kmph and lay centered about about 360 km south-southwest of Puri (Odisha), 190 km south-southeast of Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and 550 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal) today afternoon. It is expected to make a landfall between Gopalpur and Chandbali tomorrow morning between 10 am to 12 pm.
Meanwhile, several universities, colleges and education institutes have also cancelled their exams due to cyclone Fani. State Council For Technical Education and Vocational Training, Odisha, had cancelled examinations which were scheduled for May 2, 3 and 4 until further order, the revised dates will be announced later.
Similarly, Biju Patnaik University of Technology has cancelled their exams for May 2, 3 and 4. The new dates for the examination are May 25, 27 and 28.
The higher education department Odisha had also sent a notice to cancel examinations in view of the cyclone, to all the state universities and colleges under the department. Utkal University and Ramadevi Women’s University had also cancelled their exams until further order.
