Dama forms new party ‘Biju Samata Kranti Dal’

‘Biju Samata Kranti Dal’

Paradip: Expelled Paradip MLA and former minister Damodar Rout Friday formally announced the formation of a new regional party namely ‘Biju Samata Kranti Dal’.

Announcing the party’s name after legendary leader Biju Patnaik at a press conference, Rout launched a scathing attack against the BJD government. He criticised the government over farmers’ issue, unemployment issue and alleged corruption by administrative officials.

Among others present with Dama were former MP and founder of Samata kranti Dal, Braja Kishore Tripathy and Odisha Jana Morcha (OJM) chief Jagneswar Babu.

Rout said the Biju Samata Kranti Dal will fight against corruption and promote the ideologies and principles of Biju Patnaik.

Dama said that former DGP Prakash Mishra will soon join the party. However, Mishra clarified that nobody has spoken to him and he has no intentions of foraying into politics.

“While the ruling party has become corrupt, the Biju Samata Kranti Dal will preserve and promote the ideologies and principles of former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik,” Rout said.

After being expelled from BJD September 12 for his alleged ‘anti-party’ activities, Rout had hinted at formation of the new political party. The followers of Biju Patnaik will be included in the party, he had said.

It may be noted here that Rout was expelled after he was accused of making anti-party statements by alleging irregularities in sapling plantation and procurement of polythene sheets for Orissa State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited, cooperative banks and the health sector.
