Erasama: After expulsion from Biju Janata Dal, Paradip MLA Damodar Rout is pulling out all stops to regain his clout in Balikuda-Erasama constituency, as he has decided to hold a meeting to prove his strength at Erasama block October 12, a report said.
Rout convened a preparatory meeting on the premises of Kashibishwanath temple at Erasama block headquarters Saturday evening, where details of the October 12 meeting were discussed. Apart from trying out all possible means to maintain his influence, he is also mulling over various plans to engineer the defeat of MLA Prashant Muduli in coming elections.
On this occasion, he said, “It was I who introduced Prashant Muduli to Erasama people. At that time I had said to him that I am going to Paradip, leaving my soul here.”
“But he betrayed me. He held a meeting bringing Pyari Mohan Mohapatra to Erasama, who was nurturing views contradictory to mine. And that was the first disrespect he had meted out to me,” Dama said adding that at that time people could sense that and answered befittingly raising slogans such as “Pyaribabu, Go Back”.
Now it is time to teach Prashant a lesson for his unfaithfulness, the former minister said urging his followers to get united to give a befitting reply to the betrayers.
Earlier, former zilla parishad member Sarada Prasanna Jena said that an all party meeting would be organised by Durniti Hatao Mancha, an anti-corruption outfit, and Baijayant Panda along with Dama is expected to attend it.
Among his supporters, former block chairman Debendra Tripathy, Japa sarpanch Tapan Gochhayat, Seemai Bhol, former zilla parishad member Chandrabhanu Mallick, Erasama sarpanch Geetanjali Swain, Dhirendra Choudhury, Palikanta sarpanch and PCC member Dhwajaraj Khandual attended the meeting.
