Paradip: Setting aside speculations, former BJD vice president and Paradip MLA Damodar Rout Wednesday announced about formation of a new political party by him ahead of the 2019 Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters, Rout said, “The name of the party will be declared by the end of October. The party will be named after legendary leader Biju Patnaik.”
It may be pertinent to mention here that Rout currently remains as an independent MLA after being expelled from the BJD by party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik September 12 over ‘anti-party activities’.
He was ousted from the party a day after hundreds of party workers belonging to Balikuda-Erasama Legislative constituency came to Naveen Niwas in Bhubaneswar and met Patnaik demanding expulsion of Rout for his alleged involvement in anti-party activities.
