Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Damodar Rout’s wife Snehalata Mohapatra breathed her last at a private hospital here Thursday. The 72-year old Snehalata had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital for some days. She is survived by her husband, son Sambit Routray and daughter Preetinanda Routray.
A pall of gloom descended on Damodar Rout’s residence as many political leaders paid their last tribute to the departed soul. Among others, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also visited Rout’s residence and paid his homage.
The CM expressed his condolence and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Expelled BJD leader Rout joined BJP March 14. Dama’s daughter too resigned from Biju Janata Dal while his son was spotted at Naveen Niwas, presumably lobbying for a party ticket. Meanwhile, the CM’s visit has provided a different angle to the ongoing gossips and speculations concerning Rout’s family.
