Daringbadi: Dense fog has begun to appear at Daringbadi — Odisha’s Kashmir — in Kandhamal district as the mercury dipped to13 degrees Friday and 13.5 degree Saturday.
As per locals of Daringbadi, since Thursday evening they are experiencing severe cold which has also affected normal life. It is predicted that cold wave condition would prevail for the next few days.
They also added that after sunset locals are reluctant to come out of their houses due to the prevailing temperature.
Locals were seen sitting around bonfires round-the-clock to keep the cold away.
Some have started covering themselves with ‘kanthas’ — old clothes sewn together to make blankets. Old newspapers and cardboards are also in heavy demand for them as these are placed on the freezing floors to protect their sleeping place from getting chilled.Weavers of Budaguda and Simanbadi areas said the cold boosted their earning as tourists are attracted to this remote hill station and also to its coffee plantations.
Tourist flow is good as there have been no reports of any violence in the district in the recent past, one of them said.
