Cuttack, Dec 7: The bail petition of Ranjan Dash, co-founder of Artha Tatwa (AT) Group, and an accused in the chit fund scam, is shrouded in uncertainty as city based Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre (AHRCC) confirmed he is not suffering from cancer.
Dash, considered one of the closest associates of Banki BJD MLA Pravat Tripathy, had applied for bail in the Orissa High Court on the plea that he is suffering from cancer. He was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore chit fund scam in the state. The court, while taking his plea, had directed the AHRCC to examine him and submit a report. Acting on the directive of the court, a four-member team of doctors of the Institute examined Dash and found that he was not suffering from cancer.
In its report submitted Saturday, the team, however, did mention that Dash has fibrosis complications. The HC will decide on the bail plea of Dash after it receives the report.
