Bargaon: A complaint was lodged against a couple of Kantiamura village under Bargaon police limits in Sundargarh district for allegedly trying to pressurise their three daughters to converting to a separate religion, police have said.
The couple are allegedly forcing the siblings to convert to another religion and even threatening them on the issue.
According to the complaint, after converting to a separate religion, the couple is living at Sianmal village where they attend prayer meetings. They are allegedly forcing their three daughters Meeta, Ambika and Susmita to follow suit.
The couple got infuriated and had a heated brawl with the siblings after they refused to oblige them.
The couple even purchased food stocks with their ration cards but has stopped giving them to their children. Left alone to fend for themselves, the siblings are now staying at their uncle’s house.
The siblings and their uncle tried their best to resolve the dispute and even brought up the matter before the village committee but in vain. Left with no option, they lodged a complaint at the Bargaon police station, Thursday.
