Dawn-to-dusk bandh hits normalcy in Bhuban

Bhuban: A 12-hour Bhuban bandh paralysed normal life in this block in Dhenkanal district Friday.

The Regional Action Committee gave this bandh call demanding posting of doctors in vacant posts in Bhuban community health center (CHC) and the CHC’s modernization.

In view of the bandh, business establishments downed their shutters. Educational institutions remained closed. As members of the committee picketed at some strategic squares and staged road blockade on National Highway-53, hundreds of vehicles were left stranded on either side of the road.

Local people have been demanding doctors for the CHC, but no steps have so far been taken. “If our demands are not fulfilled in coming days, there will be a mass agitation,” said Action Committee, president Brajabandhu Rout and other senior leaders like Rath Sethy, Durga Prasad Prusty and Chintamani Das.
