Manamunda (Boudh): Normal life was paralysed in Manamunda town of Boudh district following a dawn to dusk 12-hour bandh over demand of a bypass road Friday.
Fed up with regular road mishaps and traffic woes, locals called for the bandh, demanding a bypass road.
Vehicular movements came to a standstill in the town. Commuters faced a harrowing time as the movement of vehicular traffic was paralysed by the protestors. Scores of vehicles remained stranded on National Highway-57 because of the agitation.
The agitators demanded a bypass road in Manamunda in order to manage vehicular traffic and avoid road mishaps, sources said.
Government and private offices, banks, shops, and other business establishments were shut down in the town due to the bandh.
The protestors resorted to picketing and road blockade in important junctions in the town. They threatened to intensify their strike if their demands are not taken into consideration.
