Bhubaneswar: The weatherman has predicted that day temperature across the state will increase beginning Friday.
“Mathematical models indicate that day temperature will continue to rise in the state from today. The rise in day temperature is likely to continue till April 30 after which it will dip but some places in the state might report high temperature ranging between 39 and 43 degrees Celsius on May 1 and 2,” said Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) Director SC Sahu.
The heat wave condition is all likely to prevail for next few days and the day temperature will also further rise at many places.
Speaking of the weather conditions on Thursday, Sahu said that Western Odisha continued to reel under intense heatwave conditions with mercury hovering over 40 degree Celsius at many places.
Titlagarh remained the hottest day in the state for the second consecutive day Thursday with mercury touching 43.5 degree Celsius. The small town in Western Odisha had recorded 43.5 degree Celsius on Wednesday as well.
Besides, Bolangir and Jharsuguda, the industrial belt in western part of the state recorded day temperature hovering over 42.4 degree Celsius Thursday.
Maximum temperature of other major towns in that part of the state- Sonepur(40.2), Bhawanipatna(41.8) and Sundargarh(41). The industrial town Angul also today recorded 40.1 degree Celsius.
Met sources said while four towns Wednesday recorded day temperature above 40 degree Celsius, as many as 11 places in the state Thursday recorded day temperature rising above 40 degrees paralyzing normal life to a great extent.
