Cuttack: Collector Aravind Agrawal has asked city Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Akhilesvar Singh to relocate seized vehicles and other goods stacked near Badambadi police station here ahead of the Dussehra festival.

Locals as well as social activists have earlier complained that the seized vehicles kept near the police station aggravated traffic snarls in the locality.

According to sources, Agrawal asked Singh to relocate all seized vehicles from Badambadi police station to the premises of the newly-commissioned DCP office in the city.

Citing frequent traffic problems in the locality, Maitree Sansad, a social organisation, had lodged several complaints with the police higher-ups. The outfit had urged the authorities to relocate seized goods from Badambadi police station to ease traffic problems but to no avail.

The Home department secretary had asked the Director General of Police (DGP) and Commissioner of Police to look into the issue and take appropriate action, last year. However, nothing was done to resolve the issue.

The callousness of the police in relocating seized goods from the police station has caused resentment among the locals and commuters. They alleged that a car met with an accident near the police station causing injuries to four people including a passerby April 14, this year.

Recently, Maitree Sansad president Ajay Mohanty raised the issue with the district Collector.
