Chhendipada: Even dead and retired teachers have been named as invigilators of Matriculation examination centres by the Angul District Education Department.
About 2,309 students of Chhendipada block will appear in the upcoming Matric examinations.
At least 204 teachers have been appointed as invigilators, according to the notification issued by the department February 15.
Bidyadhar Swain, a teacher of Podapoda High School died two years ago. However, he has been appointed as the invigilator of the examination centre at Podapoda High School.
Similarly, Prabhat Ranjan Mohapatra, who retired as a Hindi teacher from Similipal Panchayat High School, has been appointed as Bagadia High School centre’s invigilator.
When contacted, district education officer Sachchidananda Behera said, “If the notification has names of some teachers who have been either retired or dead, some other teachers will be appointed in their places.”
