Dead lizard found in mid day meal

Tumudibandh: Tension ran high at Tumudibandh Upper Primary School under Tumudibandh block in Kandhamal district after a dead lizard was found in the mid-day meal cooked for students Saturday. All 200 students were provided biscuits following the incident.

According to a source, the cook somehow noticed the dead lizard while the meals were being served to the students. As many as 60 of the 200 students had already been served with their meals at the time of incident. That said, a major issue was averted as the incident was quickly brought to the notice of the headmaster who in turn asked the students to stop consuming the food.

The students were later provided with biscuits as an alternative.

On being informed, the chairman of school education committee Pramod Kumar Manseth reached the spot and informed the parents of students about the incident. The students who had started consuming their meal were taken to Tumudibandh Primary Healthcare Centre for treatment as a precautionary measure.

The health of the students are said to be well, said by Dr Jyoti Prakash Biswal who attended to them.
