Kendrapara: Sub collector Jyotishankar Mohapatra Wednesday suspended the license of a dealer of Padanipala as he was found guilty in an inquiry report of civil supply officer. The errant dealer under Aul block duped a hapless beneficiary of ration for 18 months.
The sub collector slapped a show-cause notice on Sunakar Ray and marketing inspector of Aul block, Debi Prasad Das, to submit their replies within a week, said Rajanikant Dash, Civil Supply Officer (CSO) of Kendrapara.
According to official sources, Kaberi Jena, an orphan girl of Padanipala village, knocked the doors of the District Collector alleging that she did not get rations for 18 months. Though her father was a beneficiary under NFSA, Ray did not provide ration to her father at least for a month nor did he hand over the NFSA ration card to them after the demise of her father and mother.
She had earlier brought the matter to the notice of the marketing inspector. But the latter did not pay heed to her allegation. Finding no help from any quarter, the destitute girl who has been staying with her two younger sisters at her uncle’s house, brought the matter to the notice of the District Collector. Taking a serious note of the case, District Collector Samartha Verma directed the CSO of Kendrapara to start a probe on the alleged matter and asked the sub-collector to take action against the dealer and all those responsible for the lapse.
Acting on the inquiry report of CSO, the sub collector Wednesday suspended the license of the errant dealer and issued a show-cause notice to the dealer along with the marketing inspector directing them to submit their replies within a week, said official sources.
