Decomposed body of doctor recovered from locked house

Keonjhar: Police Wednesday recovered the decomposed body of a doctor from a locked house at Mahadeijoda village under Sadar police limits in Keonjhar district. The deceased was identified as Dr Balaram Sahu, 65, of the village. He was staying in the house after his retirement from Bhanda Community Health Centre (CHC) under Champua block. The deceased doctor was unmarried and staying alone in the house. Neighbours said he was under mental stress due to old-age-related problems and loneliness.

Police said that the house had been locked for the last two days but neighbours informed them after a stench started emanating from the house. Police broke open the door and seized the decomposed body in the presence of his kin. A case was registered in this connection and the body was sent for post-mortem. It is suspected that the doctor may have died because of a heart stroke but the actual reason can be ascertained only after the post-mortem report is available to us, Sadar IIC Ramakant Roy said.
